Barnes & Noble   The Power of Mindful Learning
by Ellen J. Langer

The Power of Mindful Learning has proven to be a wonderful read providing considerable material for personal reflection. Dr. Langer takes her personal research in the field of learning and educational psychology and shares her findings along with those of some of her other researchers. These serve as case studies and foundations around which she has been developing a theory of "Mindful Learning". The best part about the book is that she also provides concrete examples of application in current learning environments. The following is a list of chapters which illustrates the structure of this little yet powerful book.

  1. When practice makes imperfect
  2. Creative distraction
  3. The myth of delayed gratification
  4. 1066 what? or the hazards of rote memory
  5. A new look at forgetting
  6. Mindfulness and intelligence
  7. The illusion of right answers

This book is short and an enjoyable read. It is thought provoking and would make for a nice evening of reading by the fireplace.
