WebCT Training and Development
These sessions are designed specifically for teachers currently using WebCT in one or more of their courses. It is also open to those who are curious and want to know what all the fuss is about. These sessions range from 1 hour to 1.5 hour sessions.
Introduction to the Student Presentation Tool in WebCT
Duration: (1.5 hours)
This session will introduce you to the basics allowing you to start using the student presentation tool. This is a powerful tool and there are many possibilities for collaboration and independent work. You will leave the session with a sample presentation completed.
Introduction to Online Assessments using WebCT
Duration: (1.5 hours)
WebCT makes it possible to create online student assessments. You will have the opportunity to take a test using this tool as well as create a simple assessment or survey. At the completion of this session, you should be able to create simple assessments for your classes using WebCT.
Introduction to WebCT Chat
Duration: (1 hour)
This is a very interesting tool that has a lot of possibilities. I have used this tool many times as I have traveled to conferences and meetings. This tool gives you the ability to hold class remotely. This is a very different experience from physically attending class. This session will give you the opportunity to experience a 1 hour class delivered remotely with the WebCT chat tool. This session should be fun and informative. At the completion of this session, you should have a better understanding of how this tool works and ways that you can manage and teach a class from a distance.
Tips for Managing Asynchronous Discussion Groups
Duration: (1 hour)
If you are using WebCT, you are most likely using the discussion tool. This tool has many possibilities beyond a simple class discussion. This session will address the following questions:
- How do you manage large group discussions?
- Can I provide cross sectional discussions?
- Man, these students can write! How do I manage grading all of these discussions?
- Can discussions be made private for specific groups?
